When we decided to have a house with a garden, we looked for an existing building that was in a suitable location, had established vegetation, and could be economically adapted to our needs. The house, which had previously been used as a summer house, would have been demolished in the eyes of many, but as an architect I considered the conversion more appropriate, which set a strong limit to the possibilities due to the conditions. The existing building could only be economically expanded laterally to a small extent.
